Six Months is book two in Dannika’s Seven Series and our leading man is Reno Cole! And April Frost as the spitfire kickass heroine!!
So April works at the candy shop that Lexi owns now (Wanna know why and haven’t read Seven Years?? Find it here: AmazonUS) and she walks home every night. One fateful evening, she learns that the debts her grandmother had before she passed away she thought were repaid… aren’t ALL repaid…

Reno is a GIANT M&M I swear!! Lol Hard on the outside and soft, gooey and melty on the inside…

April is given a hell of a lot of obstacles in this book, a debt that’s not hers but is now, Trevor’s…issues (and trust me, this one is a doozy... lol), Reno (stubborn ass sexy man). April is used to being on her own for the most part and I was really able to relate to her. She has a love of all animals which could have been very bad for her, but ends up being a very amazing good part in the end. She sure does make Reno’s wolf scratch and howl... hehe.
I am so worried about the fate of Reno and April however, because of April being a human and aging at human rates of speed and Reno aging MUCH much slower being a shifter…  I hope something gets figured out there…

I can’t wait to read Five Weeks!!

I give this book 5 out of 5 shields!!

Book Description:

One is Come is the first installment in a YA fantasy saga full of hidden plot twists and turns. The centuries-old prophesy of the One is being fulfilled, and the ancient dragon clans are coming out of hiding to remake the world. The king of the magic users will stop at nothing to be sure the prophecy is fulfilled the right way--with his oppressive government ruling. As they struggle for power, Haylwen (14) and her brother Cadarn (16) just happen to be caught dead center.

In this first book, meet fourteen-year-old Haylwen Rightad. She doesn’t think “crazy” runs in her family, but she might be wrong. Fish seem to listen when she talks. She finds herself wearing jewelry she can’t remember putting on. And then there was the explosion at school…and her ex-principal trying to kidnap her…and her brother? Don’t even ask. All she wants is to be an ordinary teenager. Live a normal life. Go to school, make friends, and not have to move a zillion times. Oh, and getting the bullies off her back? That’d be nice, too.

What Haylwen doesn’t know is why all this crazy stuff is happening to her. But she’s about to find out. The bad news? Things aren’t going to be “normal” any time soon!

With a mysterious prophecy, magical secrets and more than a few dragons, ONE IS COME is the first book in the adventures of siblings Haylwen and Cadarn as they come to discover they have powers they never dreamt of — and a destiny only they can fulfill.

Haylwen ran. Her knees hurt, her thighs chafed, her belly and boobs jiggled out of control. Stupid bras were either hideous or didn’t do anything, she thought. She hated running, and still she ran faster. The pain in her knees and thighs distracted her from thinking about how sad she felt. Moving again! I wouldn't even get to tell Kim goodbye! So she ran, and didn’t care how she looked holding her chest.
She ran from her stupid parents telling her they were going to move again, knowing it was all her fault this time. She ran from the fear she would never have any friends. She ran away from her creepy doll, and the fact that it didn’t matter that Cadarn’s present was confiscated, it was still so much better. She couldn’t even really see where she was going, but still she ran. She left the road and took to a hiking trail.
Maybe I’d never go back. Maybe I'd get so lost that I couldn’t go back. That would teach them. Stupid brother would probably be happier without me there. She finally slowed to a walk when she realized she really had no idea where she was. She looked back, and around. Where did the hiking trail go? Surrounded by trees, she heard water trickling nearby. This must be the woods on the other side of the old train tracks. She didn’t remember crossing train tracks. She went a bit further, then stopped where the little creek came out of a small lake. Looking back, it wasn’t really a trail, just happened to be where there were fewer bushes and ferns, where the tree leaves had collected randomly. She could be the first one who had ever been here. Struck by a feeling of loneliness that overwhelmed the last of her anger, she fell to her knees and cried.
Something in the lake came up to investigate. As it got closer, it took the form of a giant catfish. It swam closer to where Haylwen’s tears were falling on the creek bank. It hesitated for a second, its long antennae slowly waving. Then it swam up to Haylwen and poked its head up out of the water.
Haylwen heard the soft sound of the big fish’s head coming out of the water and sat up, her tears suddenly stopping. “Crap!” she blurted, startled.
The fish didn’t move, just slowly waved its long antennae.
Haylwen choked out a laugh of a sort. “Or, carp?”
The fish just floated there. Somehow its wide mouth and whiskers made it look solemn.
Haylwen looked back. “Um, hello?”
Nothing. But it didn’t swim away. That’s weird, she thought. Or maybe I’ve gone crazy.
“Sorry if I am disturbing you, Mr. Fish,” she said. Oh, for sure, she was crazy, talking to a fish. Not that she cared, at this point. Apparently, she was desperate enough for a friend that even a fish would do, never mind if it wasn’t a very attentive fish. So, she started talking. Softly, starting with how she was going to have to move and that it was her fault, somehow. Soon, she was crying, telling about all the times she had lost friends… well… kids who could have been friends if she stayed anywhere long enough. About how lonely it felt to have no friends, and how maybe it would be better if she just didn’t exist. She had never really said that out loud, never really even thought it out loud before. She just sat there and sobbed, the tears pouring down her face.
Her sobs slowed, then stopped. She looked up, and was somehow not surprised to see the fish was still there, antennae waving calmly. She wiped the tears from her face, shaking them off her hands with a flick. She saw the tears hit the fish right between the eyes, heard the soft splat.
The fish blinked in surprise.
“Oh, sorry, Mr. Fish,” she said. “But it's water, right?”
The fish seemed to smile. I am crazy, Haylwen thought. Fish don’t smile. They can’t. They can’t blink, either, she thought. Well, I don’t think they can blink. I saw it blink, didn't I?
The fish turned and swam underwater, disappearing. Haylwen looked for it for a moment, and was rewarded with a rapidly growing spot coming toward her in the water. The catfish poked its head up, then spun around. With a quick flip of its big tail, so quickly Haylwen could do nothing other than gasp, the fish splashed water directly on her face. A lot of cold water.
Stunned, she felt it slide down over her chin and seem to settle at the hollow of her neck. She sat up, and tried to wipe her face off somewhat, and looked at the fish in shock. She may be crazy, but that was not her imagination.
The fish smiled, or whatever it was, again. It tucked its antennae back against its head, giving it a pleased expression.
Haylwen sat there for another moment, then laughed. “It’s only water, right?” She couldn’t help herself. She laughed again, laughed some more, laughed until she was crying again. She purposely flicked those laugh-tears at the fish, but missed every time. The whole situation was so ridiculous, her emotions were so out of control that she could do nothing but laugh.
When she finally stopped laughing, the fish started swimming in circles, slowly heading back to the center of the pond. At the point nearest Haylwen, it poked its head up.
She got up and brushed herself off. “Yeah, I guess I should get home too.”
The fish winked and slipped away under the water.
Haylwen shook her head. Even if she had friends, they would think she was crazy if she told them. She touched that spot on her neck that was still cool and promised herself she would get her mother to go bra shopping when she got home. Whenever that was. And look up if fish can wink. She got up and started walking back, not even feeling a gentle touch on her mind.
By the time she got home, she was exhausted and starving. She went to the bathroom, then into the kitchen to get a snack. Her father was there, making a cup of tea.
“Hey, Hayl.”
Haylwen attempted to ignore her father. She didn't expect him to let her get away with it, and he didn't.
As she stood there with the door to the fridge open, he stepped in front of her. “I said, Hey, Hayl. And you say...” He had a small smile on his face, but his eyes were searching hers.
Haylwen closed the door, trying to squish her father into the fridge. “Excuse me,” she said.
Abrennin stepped out of the fridge and looked at her again. “Where did you get that necklace?” he asked quietly.
“Necklace?” Haylwen said, touching her neck. The spot that had stayed cool, the spot where the water had collected now held something there. Had it always been there? She could feel a cool metal necklace around her neck, with a small round ball dangling in the hollow of her throat. Part of her would have sworn it had not been there two seconds ago. But somehow it felt like it had been there since she could remember…

To young C. H. MacLean, books were everything: mind-food, friends, and fun. They gave the shy middle child’s life color and energy. Amazingly, not everyone saw them that way. Seeing a laundry hamper full of books approach her, the librarian scolded C. H. for trying to check them all out. “You’ll never read that many before they expire!” C. H. was surprised, having shown great restraint only by keeping a list of books to check out next time. Thoroughly abashed, C. H. waited three whole days after finishing that lot before going back for more.

With an internal world more vivid than the real one, C. H. was chastised for reading in the library instead of going to class. “Neurotic, needs medical help,” the teacher diagnosed. C. H.’s father, a psychologist, just laughed when he heard. “She’s just upset because those books are more challenging than her class.” C. H. realized making up stories was just as fun as reading, and harder to get caught doing. So for a while, C. H. crafted stories and characters out of wisps and trinkets, with every toy growing an elaborate personality.

But toys were not mature, and stories weren’t respectable for a family of doctors. So C. H. grew up and learned to read serious books and study hard, shelving foolish fantasies for serious work.

Years passed in a black and white blur. Then, unpredictably falling in love all the way to a magical marriage rattled C. H.’s orderly world. A crazy idea slipped in a resulting crack and wouldn’t leave. “Write the book you want to read,” it said. “Write? As in, a fantasy novel? But I’m not creative,” C. H. protested. The idea, and C. H.’s spouse, rolled their eyes.

So one day, C. H. started writing. Just to try it, not that it would go anywhere. Big mistake. Decades of pent-up passion started pouring out, making a mess of an orderly life. It only got worse. Soon, stories popped up everywhere- in dreams, while exercising, or out of spite, in the middle of a work meeting. “But it’s not important work,” C. H. pleaded weakly. “They are not food, or friends, or…” But it was too late. C. H. had re-discovered that, like books, life should be fun too. Now, writing is a compulsion, and a calling.

C. H. lives in a Pacific Northwest forest with five cats, two kids, one spouse, and absolutely no dragons or elves, faeries, or demons… that are willing to be named, at least.

REVIEW: Darkest Flame by Donna Grant

Darkest Flame by Donna Grant

In Darkest Flame by Donna Grant, the Dark Kings have fought for centuries to preserve their dragon magic. But one of the most powerful warriors of his kind will be put to the ultimate test. Is he strong enough to resist his greatest temptations? Or will he be forced to surrender—body and soul?
HER BEAUTY IS A WEAPON.
Denae Lacroix is a beautiful MI5 agent on a deadly mission. Sent to the Scottish Highlands to spy on the mysterious Dreagan Industries, she discovers too late that she’s been set up—as human bait. She is an irresistible lure for a man who has not seen or touched a woman for centuries. He is a man with a destiny—and a desire—that could destroy them both…
HIS PASSION IS A CURSE…

It’s been twelve hundred years since Kellan has walked among humans—and there’s no denying the erotically charged attraction he feels for Denae. But as a Dragon King, he is sworn to protect his secrets. Yet the closer he gets to this smart, ravishing woman, the more her life is in danger. All it takes is one reckless kiss to unleash a flood of desire, the fury of dragons…and the fiercest enemy of all.

I was so excited when this book came out! Kellan is quite the stubborn harda$$, Then again, this does seem to be a pattern for our amazingly sexi Dragon Kings.
I loved the banter back and forth between Danae and Kellan. Don’t get me wrong, danae is a force to be reckoned with haha!
When I realized that Con knew about Tristan I was so angry at Con that I could spit! I mean, I had my sneaking suspicions, that there was more to Tristan then we were being told, but the fact that Con knew made me so angry… grrr…
I will admit I was a bit more than disappointed when Danae’s blood test came back. But she and Kellan are so amazing together that I was quickly all better. I was giddy that we actually got to see an actual mating ceremony in detail! I had been waiting for that since Dark Craving so YAY!!
Awesome book, I can’t wait to JUMP into the next one!

I give this book 5 out of 5 shields!

I received an E-ARC copy of this book from the author through Enchantress of Books Blog Tours in exchange for an honest review...

Its like... whoa!! Twists and turns and keeps you guessing and then you think you know and BAM another twist and such a strong powerful love!! OMG!
Having read books 1-4 of the Mageri series, there was already a strong set of pre-determined expectations of what was to come from a Dannika Dark Novel! BOY OH BOY!! It was all that and more!! Lexi (Alexis) is a young girl (Just under 30) who lost her older brother Seven Years ago (hint hint on the name of the book..? lol dur..) When Austin Cole (Late Brother's BEST friend) waltzes back into town after being absent for the past seven years, Lexi's old memories come crashing down on her emotions. Lexi had a crush on Austin back in the day... and I mean... really? What younger sister DIDN'T have a crush on their big brother's best friend when they were growing up?!?! lol

Anywho... Lexi learns a LOT more than she ever thought possible including secrets about herself she never saw coming!!

I love how Dannika trickles you down a little info at a time throughout the story. She only gives you EXACTLY as much information as you ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO HAVE to understand the scene in place. The twists and turns and downright shocking moments throughout this book will have you HOOKED from page ONE! I cannot wait to get to read Book Two in this series "Six Months".

REVIEW: Dark Heat by Donna Grant

Dark Heat by Donna Grant

The Dark Kings are sworn to defend an ancient legacy of dragon magic. But their fiercest challenge lies in the modern world, where a woman’s love conquers all. These are their stories.

This book contains the first 3 Dark Kings prequels + a bonus story, "Passion's Claim":

"Dark Craving"

Fueled by ancient magic—and enflamed by human desire—the Dragon King known as Hal can transform himself at will into one of the legendary winged creatures he is sworn to protect. But one thing he can never do is fall in love...with a mortal woman.

"Night’s Awakening"

The dark immortal warriors were never meant to experience human desire. But when Guy, a member of an ancient order of shape-shifting warriors, meets Elena—a mere mortal whose beauty and blind ambition shakes him to his core—all bets are off...

"Dawn’s Desire"

For centuries, the Dragon Kings have hidden their shapeshifting powers from the world. But when a mortal enemy threatens to expose them, the warrior Banan must leave his secret lair in the Highlands to risk his life for the dragons within—and resist the temptations of human love.

"Passion’s Claim"

Banan has been waiting for centuries for someone like Jane. Guy knew it was love at first sight with Elena. Can two Dragon Kings commit to two immortal women for eternity? Or does fate have something else in store?

Dark Heat is a compiled version of the first three Dark Kings prequel novellas plus a BONUS STORY that you can ONLY get in this version… So even if you’re read Dark Craving, Night’s Awakening, and Dawn’s Desire separately, you should still buy this book for the awesome bonus story! Hehe…

Dark Craving: In this book, things with Cassie started slow but quickly came to light. I loved the raw passion in the characters. Occasionally the story went a bit fast, but not too bad. There were times I felt as if I were right there with Cassie experiencing everything. Amazing story. Looking forward to seeing if Constantine gets his own story as that would be a very strong woman indeed.

Night’s Awakening: This book was very fast paced and very well written. The tension raised between Guy and Elena. I enjoyed how in tune to each other the two were from the get go. I am interested to see where the next book takes us! I wish this book was a little longer but loved how even though the novella was short.... there were no details spared. Only deepening my Donnaddiction!!

Dawn’s Desire: OK, So after reading intently for time frames that caused me missed sleep and meals (couldn't put it down) Here goes...

This book starts off exactly where the last one left off. (Which is a good thing to me because then I don't feel like I missed anything. Jane is a simple plain girl that feels nobody notices her until.... Banan. OK, so some parts of the story are corny as some have mentioned... But I am that girl that went unnoticed and still does, or used to until my hubby ^_^ hehe ... It was nice to find a story about a sexy librarian type plain simple girl that found her Mr. right...
The scenes in this book were same as the first two... Very descriptive and enthralling. Donna has a way to where when you are reading these stories, it is not simple titillation. There is passion read and felt. I liked that it wasn't exactly easy as pie to get the girl this time. It wasn't exactly an enormous challenge, but it wasn't a walk in the park. I was a bit sad at the end that... well, you'll see what I wanted that had to be put off... ;)
I will continue to re-read this series and impatiently await the 2014 release of the next Dragon King book.

Passion’s Claim:
With both Guy and Banan wanting to make sure their women are fully ready and understand their choice that is to be made about the binding ceremony and all of the stipulations that come with it, they begin giving their women all the wrong signals.
In part one Banan and Jane continue a bit further. It's been a few months since the two met and fell madly in love, yet the pair still haven't been mated. There were a couple of times when I wanted to shake them... both, Banan AND Jane, for one reason or another. Jane not bringing up the mating ceremony she wanted so badly, and thinking Banan lost interest in her... Banan for not asking her hoe she felt about the ceremony. You just want to hand cuff them together and feed them truth serum and say "now talk!" haha. I loved that Banan had the big elaborate thing planned and enjoyed the excitement of the other ladies with the news.
In part two, Guy and Elena are at a stalemate as well. Again, I wanted to knock their heads together. I understand the reasons they both had but my gods man! If you want something, go get it! Don't wait around for it to decide... Guy, although he thought he was doing the right thing in this, should have not been such a coward and when his fellow dragon kings tell him this, I was right there with them. I cried in this part and was so upset with Guy that he was being such an arse... This short bonus story will have your emotions all over the place so have kleenex handy and be ready to control your anger and "aww" factor.

I give this awesome start to an amazing series 5 out of 5 shields!

REVIEW: Closer by Dannika Dark

Closer by Dannika Dark

Kane never believed in things like fate or karma. Not until the night he took a life.

Within the human world is a secret society of immortals and gifted supernaturals. Kane is one of them—a Sensor who experiences emotional energy through touch. But despite his good looks and easy-going personality, Kane lives a solitary life. Unlike other Sensors, he is unnaturally hypersensitive.

Touch brings pain.

Fate throws a curveball when a woman’s life is placed in his hands. Kane is suddenly faced with a difficult decision, each with its own moral consequence, and time is not on his side.

Will she be his salvation, or his ruination?

Closer is a standalone novella that is based in the same world of the Mageri series, but is not part of the Mageri series.

After reading all five of the Mageri Series Novels, I wasn’t going to pass this novella up!
Closer is set in the same breed world as the Mageri series, but not the same place exactly. The characters aren’t the same as the ones in the Mageri Series, but it’s…. Dannika Dark has written every book I have read, in the same breed world, different breeds living among humans in plain sight… That being said… This book is a standalone, so you don’t have to have read any of the Mageri Series to understand this one, but trust me… you’re going to want to read them after this if you haven’t already!!
Closer has our leading man Kane who is a Sensor. Sensors can transfer emotions both to and from others through their hands. Kind of like a rechargeable battery, but instead of electricity, emotions.  For most Sensors, this is a good thing and can be quite profitable if done right. Well… For Kane, touching…. Getting the emotions from others, hurts him.
Since this is such a short story, I’m not going to give a lot of details because I don’t want to give anything away.
Kane meets a woman names Caroline through a set of circumstances that’s anything but pleasant and Kane realizes Caroline is also a sensor but is in a coma(you find out why when you read it.. lol I can’t tell.) and Kane tries diligently to bring her out of the coma.
I loved this story even though it was short. I do wish it was longer though, not  because it’s missing anything, or that it’s unfinished, because it is, there’s nothing missing really and there’s not a cliffhanger, but I just wasn’t ready for it to end! Lol

I give this book 5 out of 5 shields!
