AUDIOBOOK REVIEW TOUR: Cursed By Fire by Danielle Annett REVIEW

Cursed by Fire
(Blood & Magic Series, Bk 1)
By Danielle Annett
Narrated by Nicole Poole

Blurb:

Blood is going to spill …
It won’t be mine.

Someone is feeding the flames, leaving a trail of bodies in their wake. The victims are innocents, chosen to pit the shifter Pack and the vampire Coven against one another.

If war breaks out, humanity won’t survive.
But controlling fire is my thing, and I won’t let that happen.
I’m a mercenary, but this is about so much more than money. It’s my city and someone is threatening it. I won’t stop until I find them.

When the good guys start to look more like villains, I have no chose but to question everything I knew, including the people I thought I could trust.

It turns out the humans might not be as helpless as they seem, and I'm in more danger than I realized.

First off, let me tell you that this book was not like any I've read recently.. I loved Aria Naveed's snark and witty comebacks for everything. When she called him a furball, I spit my drink all over my steering wheel! This book was so enticing from beginning to end and then the ending just leaves you wanting so much more! Being a pyrokinetic sounds both awesome and tiring, but in her line of work, I'm impressed! I didn't trust that one guy (remaining nameless for the sake of spoilers) from the get go! But I really REALLY loved the scene in the gym where things started heating up! I liked that this book wasn't innocent entirely, but it was clean enough for me to be okay listening to it with my 12yr old niece in the car. After read... I mean... listening to book one, I can't wait to get my hands on book two! I adore Nicole Poole's ability to have such a range of voices that all are convincing for the area as well as the genders and characteristics described! I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a mostly clean paranormal read!

5 shields!

The second book in the series,
KISSED BY FIRE also available in audio!

Available for purchase at Audible

Praise Deadly Ground by Thomas W. Starbuck
 and Judy Belshe-Toernblom

Great concept...makes you think. Could history be repeating itself? Fast read. Anxious for the sequel.- Peggy Holder, Amazon

"A really good book and definitely a page-turner. I really liked the characters which is so important to me when I read a book. And the story really makes you think a lot about the things that are going on around us throughout the world. This was a different type of book than I normally read, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. This book has something for so many readers interests ñ some fantasy, some romance, some sci-fi. It's also a quick read. I'm looking forward to the author's sequel to 'Deadly Ground'."-Tamara,-Amazon Review

Praise Boonville Redemption:
The End Of The Beginning by Judy Belshe-Toernblom

Unique and wonderful on multiple levels. Told from a dog's point of view, the tale of love, betrayal, and ultimate redemption is woven in a tapestry of beautiful description, colorful history and memorable characters. Set in the quaint town of Boonville, Anderson Valley, Northern California, the book resurrects Boontling, the valley-specific, and near- lost language of Boonville's earliest settlers. It's a great read that will draw you into the quieter, gentler times, captivate you with the lush scenery, prompt you to curse or cheer the townsfolk of 1800s Boonville.
- J. Helen Elza, Amazon

A touching story about the good and evil that is part of the human experience. The characters inspire one to think about forgiveness and redemption. Very engaging and beautifully written. Loved reading it. So good I wanted the story to continue!

-Garden Girl, Amazon

Opulence in every space of his home was an accurate description of AB’s lifestyle. From his lavish Tuscan kitchen to his media room festooned with all the latest gadgets. He must always have the best, top-of-the- line, and there should always be a way to improve it, whatever it might be.
There was uncompromising quality, design, and craftsmanship in everything he owned. Every detail from the high ceilings to the beautifully inlaid floors and exquisite moldings in every room. He was a master at details. His worldwide travels had culturally enriched him beyond the average guy. He brought into his home the beauty he had seen around the world and incorporated it into his life and home.
His California home was perched high on the hills overlooking the northern Pacific Ocean. Rustic, magnificent, and equipped with all the modern amenities. The crown of his home was the fantastic unobstructed view of the northern Pacific Ocean. In the summer he viewed the vista through enormous glass doors that collapsed and folded into themselves, bringing the outdoors inside. In the winter, he would daydream out the same doors with a warm cup of coffee in his hand. At those moments, it seemed that all his cares drifted away. Having this unhindered view to the ocean year-round made him feel like he was gazing into infinity, and for those brief moments, he was satisfied.
Outside his home was even more exterior evidence of how he thought a person should live peacefully and without want. The stunning, lush landscaped yard was park-like. It included a pool, spa, fountains, spacious private patio areas, and an expansive grassy yard. To go along with that he had created an organic garden, and a hothouse. He could have charged admittance to the public to see all of this if he was not such a sociophobe. It seemed that he was always in a building frenzy. He was never finished.
With all the romance that he had built around him for the eye to visualize, he had yet to find a woman to share it with. Not one that could put up with him on a long-term basis anyway. His intellect was higher than most on the planet, but his emotions ran deep.
Call it what you will: DNA, genetic, learned, or just a reality check from having a heart attack in his thirties; he had developed a compulsion to write down his thoughts in a journal at the end of each day. Every shelf in his den showed his varied degrees in education, assorted medical books, studies on viruses, some awards, record albums, and dozens of journals.
A Frederick Remington’s bronze sculpture was placed on a nearby table. Next to it, in direct contrast, was an empty Coca-Cola can-struction. Leaned up against the wall were several paintings by various famous artists waiting to be hung. The amazing house always was in flux. Proving that we were always one step away from the sublime to the ridiculous in AB’s world.
On his desk were family pictures of a young AB with his younger brother in their mother’s garden. AB’s garden was an embellished version of his mother’s. In another picture was a young AB standing with his father in front of his DC-3.
Stacked next to them were old newspaper clippings. The headlines read that his entire family had been killed in an airplane crash, leaving him as the young heir to the family’s fortune. Sitting on top of the articles was a book of poems that belonged to his mother.
One of his journals lay open on his desk next to a notice from the IRS blazoned in their favorite shade of red. Most people knew what AB did for a living, where he went, and how he lived. But no one knew his thoughts or what made him tick other than what they had heard him talk about. His journal revealed the inward workings of AB.

I think this was a really good book with a cool concept. It is a really fast read and the characters can be relatable which is a great feat for such a short story. The story gets you thinking about things going on around you and as to whether history is really repeating itself and how things are going in the world. This is a different read for me as I’m normally an urban fiction or romance reader, but this was refreshing and makes me wonder what other sci-fi books I may be missing out on by not reading them. I give it 4 shields!

DOUBLE RELEASE and COVER REVEAL! Naughty Ever After collection by Trista Jaszczak + DOUBLE REVIEW & GIVEAWAY!

Title: Red: Naughty Ever After #1
Author: Trista Jaszczak
Genre: Twisted Fairytale / Erotic Romance
Release Date: February 14, 2018

Who’s afraid of the Big Bad Wolf?...

Samantha Wentworth has one mission in life: to get as far away as she possibly can from her troubled past. When she finds herself on the Louisiana bayou, she runs straight into the arms of a very sexy Big Bad Wolf that she just can’t seem to resist. Will Samantha continue on her journey, or does the full moon have other plans in store for her?

This book began as an awesome story, I loved this awesome and different perspective on Little Red Riding Hood! Also how you got the story in dual points of view!  Samantha (Red) is the main character in this amazing book. She is escaping and running away from something (we later find out what…but Im not tellin’ hehe) and meets Ethan. A thirty year old bachelor that seems…. A bit too… shall we say eerily trustworthy? After one night with Ethan, Samantha is hooked and vice versa. Their story does not have an instant happy ending however as there are some MAJOR twists and turns! I read the entire second half of this book in one sitting!! I just couldn’t stop!! I laughed and cried and had moments I held my breath through this book! I loved learning about Ethan and his sister and his brothers and then to find out about the curse Ethan and his brothers had… Such an awesome book! I would recommend this to anyone that likes a good paranormal romance or a different ideology of fairy tales with great twists and turns and a bit of adventure in between the beginning and end and not just an instant happy ending. This book was WELL worth the read and I look forward to reading Book Two in The Naughty Ever After Fairy Tales as SOON as I can get my hands on it!!

I give this book 5 shields!!

Title: Unmasked: Naughty Ever After #2

Cinderella is proof that a pair of shoes can change your life...

In Blair's case it just so happens to be a pair of $8,000.00 shoes. When she's given the chance to go to a masked ball to celebrate the rock band, the Huntsmen's latest album release her two fairy godfathers flip her life upside down. She doesn't believe that it could ever end in a one night stand with a rock star...and a lost $8,000.00 shoe...but it does. All Blair can think about is the mess she's gotten herself into and all prince of rock Hunter can think of is finding the woman he spent a night with, even though his only lead is a single, red-bottomed shoe.

First off.... OH MY GAWD!!!!
I loved this book almost more than I adored Red (Naughty Ever After Fairy Tales #1)! We start off with Blair... she's not plain or anything but she seems to think she is... She reminds me of myself actually....

She is running late, stopping to grab coffee for everyone at work on her way in trying to beat her boss in... Blair works for "The Ice Queen" and boy does she earn that title!

I read Little Red and while that book took me a while to get the hang on the ever changing POV, this book was much easier as every time there was a POV change, the chapter changed as well... so it was much easier to get used to...

Hunter (Herein called Derek as that is his real name...) is such a gentleman!! When he and Blair meet, they are at a masked ball to celebrate the debut of his newest album.... (That’s right... he's a freaking rock star!!) They danced forever and then ended up going back to his place...

Here he is as I said before... a perfect gentleman... Great host and they fall asleep together (no... they didn't do anything... as I said before... gentleman lol) But seeing as Blair's clothing and accessories for the ball were borrowed from "The Ice Queen"... when she woke up, she was in a hurry to leave... (Well, that and her "plain Jane" view of herself... So she snuck out... And in true Cinderella fashion.... left behind a shoe... ;)

Derek's devotion is OMG One of a Kind!! Tracking her down no matter what and WOW was all I could say QUITE a few times when Derek proceeded to go all out and be so eloquently "Prince Charming" with her.

The hurdles of publicity and The Ice Queen's neon trolls (When you read this you will understand...), {btw... so wanted to beat the ever loving out of those two..!!} Christian and Anthony.... TOTALLY need them in my life!! They are amazing and perfect friends!!

As Self-Proclaimed... Blair's... "Fairy God-Fathers" *giggles*
They were such a great support system!! I loved it!!
My Favorite Part??
THE CARRIAGE RIDE OF COURSE!!!

I Abso-Mute-Ly adored this book even though I was sad to see it end.. I look forward to reading the next edition of Trista Jaszczak's Naughty Ever After Fairy Tales and see what she pulls out of her hat next!!!!

I give this book 5 shields!!

Title: Scarred: Naughty Ever After #3
Author: Trista Jaszczak
Genre: Twisted Fairytale / Erotic Romance
Release Date: February 28, 2018

Who could ever learn to love a beast?...

Eric Morris had his priorities straight. Money, motorcycles, and models. That is until a motorcycle accident leaves him permanently scarred and angry with the world. He finds comfort in isolation, refusing to leave his own home for fear of what the world will think of the once beautiful man. With working beginning to pile up he has no choice but to hire a personal assistant to cater to his every need, including taking the force of his attitude. What he doesn’t realize is that Elle Davis is not like other women and she fully intends on putting Eric right into his place. Will Eric be able to make her see through his scars…will he be able to change for her?

RED

I close my eyes tightly, only to hear Ethan’s voice demand, “Look at me,” in my ear.

I obey as I feel my body climax quickly. I let out a scream that surely frightens off anything else in the woods in a nearby radius. Ethan’s lips curl up, pleased, just before he leans in to smash his lips to mine. The kiss is all but brief and leaving me wanting more before his head yanks back and a low groan leaves his lips. His head leans forward to find my shoulder. His breathing is deep and ragged as he works to steady himself and brace me.

My trembling and weak body finally begins to relax as it settles on me what has happened. Ethan finally raises his head to lock eyes with mine. His eyes have changed. They seem softer. Relaxed and completely satisfied. I can’t even open my mouth, despite having tried. He holds his stance and keeps me in place as my body shivers.

“You’re cold,” I hear him murmur.

I manage a slight nod.

He smiles, plants a kiss on the center of my forehead, and begins to reluctantly move.

UNMASKED

“What’s wrong?” I ask, trailing into the room.

Christian is firmly planted on the employee couch with the television turned on. “I think you need to see this.” His eyes grow large as he points at the screen. I turn to face the TV and have one more sip of tea. He’s watching some celebrity gossip news show that I don’t quite recognize. What I do recognize, however, is myself from the masked ball plastered on the Times Square jumbo screen with the caption, “Have you seen my Cinderella? Cinderella, please find me again. Love, Hunter.”

I feel the cup slide from my hands and it crashes to the white tiled floor, spilling my tea everywhere. My mouth drops open and I have no idea what to say or do.

“I’m in the middle of Times Square!” I yell.

Christian gives me a silent nod as I hear the bell of the front door. I know that I should go to the sales floor, but I can’t. My eyes are glued to the screen, and my legs have somehow frozen in place.

“Blair! Christian!” We both hear Anthony who seems to be running towards us. He bursts through the break room door and glances at the mess on the floor. “Oh my God. You’ve seen.”

“I’m in the middle of Times Square!” I exclaim again as my head whirls.

SCARRED

I feel my mouth drop open slightly as I gawk at him. Makes me wonder what he’s talking about and if I can be nosey and pry just for a bit. I just have no idea what to say. I continue to stare with a slightly open mouth as I rock back and forth on my bare feet. I feel a chill run down my spine that makes me shiver and I immediately pull the white robe around me tighter. I watch Eric as he swallows and drags his hand down his face. He looks up at me with a pout.

“I think I’m still trying to figure out why I had the accident. I certainly didn’t plan it. It just…” His voice fades off and he shakes his head. “I should have died that day.”

I give my head a little shake. “It wasn’t your time.”

“Do you really believe that?”

I chew on my lip softly for a second as I think things over and finally give a little nod. “I do. Clearly you weren’t meant to die on that road that day, Eric.”

He moves closer to me, so close that I can feel warmth radiating off his body. Another chill rushes down me and I hug myself tighter. I look up at Eric who is staring intently at me. “What did Lucian do to you?”

“It just didn’t work out.” I shrug. “We tried, he…I just wasn’t right for him.”

“He wasn’t right for you, you mean?” I feel the blast of warm air and smell of peppermint of his breath.

I feel my body give a little shudder as Eric seems to lean a little closer to me. I can hear each breath he takes as he begins to study me again. I keep my eyes forward, a little nervous to look him in the eyes. I stare ahead at his neck and begin counting his heartbeat as I see each pulse throb…one, two, three, four, five….

“I’m just trying to figure you out.”

I giggle. “There’s nothing to figure out.”

“I’m willing to bet that there’s a lot more to you than you let on.” He tells me pushing my hair off my shoulder.

I shake my head. “I really hate to disappoint you. I’m pretty much an open book.”

His lips twist up at the corners. “An open book, huh?”

I take a deep breath in and smell nothing but the sweet peppermint from his mouth. He’s standing incredibly close and I hadn’t noticed him take a step forward.

“If you’re such an open book then why don’t you tell anyone what Lucian did to you?”

My mouth drops. What exactly is he trying to get out of me? The fact that I fell a little too hard and fast for Lucian and ended up having him crush my heart? I’d rather not take a trip down memory lane, thank you very fucking much.

“Elle,” Eric’s voice grows soft as he leans down very slowly.

I look into his eyes. I can’t think. I can’t speak. The smell of peppermint is intoxicating. My surroundings become blurry. I part my lips slowly and I feel my eyes begin to close.

“Eric.” Lucian’s voice makes me gasp and jump back as he walks into the room. “I just wanted to see if you were finished.”

I step away from Eric, slightly shaken up, and a little confused. I cross my arms and take a very deep breath. I release it slowly and count to five to relax myself. Eric turns and gives Lucian a nod as he seems a little distraught himself. “Just finished.”

“I…I should get dressed.” I say, looking at Eric who is running a hand through his hair as Lucian is telling him that he can have the proofs ready in a few hours if needed. Eric gives him a little nod, but his head turns to me.

“Did you have a good shoot, Elle?” I hear Lucian’s voice and even though I understand that he is talking to me I can’t take my eyes off Eric.

Eric smiles. “Did you have a good shoot, Elle?” He repeats, looking back at Lucian who is staring at us both like we’re crazy.

I shake out of the haze of peppermint and Eric’s blue eyes to nod. “It was great. I really hope they like the photos.”

“She was stunning,” Eric adds. “They’ll blow everyone away.”

Lucian raises his eyebrows and cocks his head slightly. “Alright, well…I can’t wait to see them. I bet they’re great.”

“I’m really cold…I’m just going to get dressed.” Eric and Lucian both give me a nod and as I walk away I can feel their eyes on me. I have no clue what just fucking happened. I feel…a little panicked to be quite honest. I nearly kissed Eric. Or…did Eric almost kiss me? I have no idea. My heart is still pounding at the thought. I swear to God…looking in his eyes is just like being charmed by a snake who is about to eat you. Completely unaware of anything around you except him. And that…is terrifying.
