 Title: Wizard or Warrior
By: LD Doornbosch
Publication Date: February 11, 2016
Genre: Non Fiction - Self Help

In relationships as with other things, you get what you ask for. That becomes a problem when you don't know what you want! Wizard or Warrior summarizes 22 character archetypes, based on the Major Arcana of the Tarot, which make up the human race. It explains character traits, good and bad, and what makes each type "tick". Read this book and you'll be able to identify in short order whether someone is prone to violence or a die-hard pacifist, and even gain insights into how they'll behave in bed. Finding romance doesn't have to be hard. Sometimes it's as easy as asking for a Wizard or Warrior.

L D Doornbosch grew up in the Midwest, in a suburb of Waterloo, Iowa. She moved to Arizona as a teen, where she still resides today. She spent twenty years in broadcast news, on and off the air, before a career move to technology. Throughout her life, she created technical and practical manuals for work related topics. With her first book, Finding Keepers, she shifted her focus to creating a manual on personal relationships, one with step-by-step instructions on the process of finding the right person. Wizard or Warrior extends that into the creation of a personality reference to help readers determine what kind of personality they are, as well as what type of personality would be their ideal match.

The fog suddenly consumed him and he screamed as loud as he could. When everything was clear again, he saw that he was in a house. He was in a room that was lit by candles. The walls were covered in red wallpaper and the curtains were black.

The room struck him as being old. The decorations weren’t normal. There were skeletons and things that looked like claws, cauldrons and crystals. There was at least one cross on every wall. What was this place and how had he gotten there?

As his mind filled with worried thoughts, two people came into the room. One was a man and the other was a woman. The man was very handsome. He had dark brown hair and captivating brown eyes.

Abel couldn’t look away from them and he didn’t know why. He managed to tear his eyes away from the man and look over to the woman. She was one of the most beautiful brunettes he had ever seen. Her hair was long, well past her shoulders. Her lovely brown eyes matched the darker shades of her hair.

“Hello, Abel,” she said with an excited smirk.

How did she know his name? “He…hello…”

“Do you know where you are?”

He shook his head.

“Do you know who we are?”

He shook his head again.

“You’re going to be our new slave,” the man said, “My name is Corbin, and this incredibly sexy creature is Scarlett.”

Abel now noticed that he was laying on a bed. He sat up and cushioned his back against the pillows, forcing himself to remain calm until he knew what was happening. “I beg your pardon?”

“You are going to be our slave.” Scarlett said this slowly, as if he was deaf or stupid. She was mocking his confusion.

“This woman has no patience.” Corbin smiled admiringly at her. “Allow me to explain. We…are vampires. Now, we’re fairly new because she’s only one hundred years old. I’m two hundred years old. Nothing, really, compared to most vampires we know. Just the same, we’ve worked hard and wanted to reward ourselves with a servant.”

Abel put his hand to his forehead to check his temperature. He didn’t have a fever. He sat there a minute, waiting for his head to start spinning. He had to be drunk out of his mind. That was the only explanation for this nonsense. “Vampires don’t exist…they aren’t real…”

“Everyone has the same reaction.” Scarlett sighed. “They say that vampires can’t be real, they drive themselves crazy trying to block out what they’re being told. Then we have to prove it to them.”

Corbin smiled widely. The grin revealed two sharp fangs. Abel gasped in horror and looked over at Scarlett. She had fangs too. She was right; he was trying to block out what he was being shown. This couldn’t be real.

“You’re not sick,” Corbin said, taking a step closer to him, “You’re not drunk and you’re not dreaming. You could call this a nightmare, except that it’s real.”

“Before you become our permanent slave,” Scarlett began, “We have to have a taste test.”

“A–a–a…taste…test?” Abel’s heart was racing again. He said it wasn’t a dream, but it had to be. These things only happened in books and movies.

“Yes!” she said excitedly. “We have to see how sweet your blood is.”

Abel tried to scramble out of bed, but Corbin was at his side in a flash and holding him down with one finger. He was obviously of enormous strength. Scarlett was now sitting next to him on the bed.

I tilted my head. “I apologize. I’ll try to do better. Is there anything else you want since we’re putting everything on the table?”

She hesitated, her fingers worrying the ugly shirt she wore.

“Spit it out.”

“You can’t, um, you can’t mess around while we’re doing . . . while we’re together.”

“Mess around?”

She looked everywhere but at me. “You can’t sleep with other women. I won’t be humiliated like that.”

“So what you’re saying is: I can’t fuck anyone?”

Her cheeks were so red I thought her head would explode; however, she straightened her shoulders and looked right at me. “Yes.”

This was too fun for me.

“Yes, I can fuck around?”

“No fucking,” I enunciated the last word.

“You expect me to remain celibate the whole time?” I asked, now incredulous.

“I will be, so I expect you to do the same.”

I snorted. “I doubt it’s anything new for you.”

She threw up her hands. “That’s it. You want to fuck someone? Go fuck yourself, VanRyan.”

Melanie Moreland lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of twenty-six-plus years. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them.

Known as the quiet one with the big laugh, Melanie works at a local university and for its football team. Her job, while demanding, is rewarding as she cheers on her team to victory.

While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys travelling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip.

Melanie delights in a good romance story with some bumps along the way, but is a true believer in happily ever after. When her head isn’t buried in a book, it is bent over a keyboard, furiously typing away as her characters dictate their creative storylines to her, often with a large glass of wine keeping her company.
