MacLeod Castle     May 2013
     Things had changed.
And not exactly for the better.
Arran MacCarrick stared at the chessboard with unseeing eyes.  He was six hundred and forty-six years old, and today he felt every day of those years.
A great sadness weighed upon him.  Not for himself, but for his friends.  It warred with the restlessness that urged him to do something.
The need for battle, to work his body into a frenzy as he unleashed the powers within him from his god, Memphaea.  The yearning for something to do kept him awake at night – and on edge through the day.  He searched for anything – and everything – to occupy his thoughts and body.  If for only a little while.
Camdyn said he needed a woman.  Arran inwardly snorted.  The last thing he needed was a woman to get in his way and make him fret about her mortality.
     A woman.
     “No’ likely,” he murmured.
An unwanted memory of his sister filled his thoughts.  She had been a bright, shining star in his world.  A free spirit who saw only good.  Her future was supposed to have been filled with love and laughter.
Instead, Deirdre had found him.  Shelley, his sweet sister, had tried to help him.  In return she was torn to pieces before his very eyes.
He hadn’t been a Warrior then, hadn’t had the power to stop the wyrran.  But even now with that power running just beneath his skin, he knew he was better off without any hindrances.
Are you really?     He glanced up from the chessboard........ Click to read more!!

My complicated wonderful daughter!

Ok, So this week has been seriously awesome thus far....

Today Eryn and I went to her Autism Diagnosis Observation Schedule Results appointment... Turns out her doctors think that she is going to need many different types of therapy but gave no real diagnosis.... she has a non-specific spectrum disorder revelation..

There are Pros and Cons to the diagnosis...

+PLS-5 test results
Auditory Comprehension:    97th Percentile
Expressive Communication: 34th Percentile
Total Language Score:          60th Percentile
This means that the doctors feel that she does not need speech therapy! :)
+However, the Behavioral Compilation was more interesting..

The doctor thinks that from the above results, that Eryn may need medicine later in life. But therapy might be enough if we are aggressive enough. (fingers crossed for no medication)
++TREATMENT RECOMMENDATIONS++
1. Referral to audiology for a hearing evaluation. Eryn may be below normal in her hearing abilities and need her dB line evaluated and measured.
2. Vision needs tested. Eryn may be having headaches from vision which can cause irritability. Eryn has a tendency to squint when drawing or reading.
3. Children with developmental disorders sometimes develop behaviors which interfere with the child's ability to function in school, home, and in many other social places. The behaviors that are interfering with Eryn's abilities to function at a normal or average range are inattention and obsession/ritualistic practices, and aggression. If Eryn is still having considerable problems with the above listed issues after beginning elementary school, medication may become necessary.
4. Sleep problems can continue to contribute to behavioral issues It is evident that Eryn has sleep onset and sleep maintenance . We recommend a sleep study and they will contact you for an appointment.
5. Behavioral Intervention and support services are available at www.connectingforkids.org. The family will contact the Child Development Center in Amherst, OH and make an appointment ASAP.
6. County Services: Eryn is being referred to the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities. The County Office for Developmental Disabilities is responsible for educational and vocational services for individuals with cognitive impairment and developmental disabilities that Eryn is exhibiting.
7. School: Although there are visible and recognized limitations in Eryn's ability to function in a normal peer based social setting, Eryn's parents are being encouraged at this point in her  therapy to enroll Eryn in school. It is the public school system's responsibility to begin educating children with delays starting at age three. Parents should be proactive about getting Eryn set up with an IEP and contact the local school district to enroll Eryn immediately.

So basically.... my amazing little gigglebug id going to be a very busy gigglebug very very soon....

Beginning my blog and short introduction

Hello and welcome!!!

As you may have surmised, my name is Bridgette. I am a 27 year old mother of 5. I am IRISH... very Irish!! Red Hair, freckles, fair skin, the whole 9... Here recently I have been going through a lot of things and thought that a blog might be a great way to vent, and get out some things that I am not usually very apt to say out loud because I prefer to avoid most unpleasant confrontation. I am an online college student through Ashford University. Awesome school, can be difficult at times, but if it was easy, then everyone would be flying through with degrees and higher educated lifestyles wouldn't they?

I have a three year old bouncy daughter named Eryn, who is HIGHLY functioning autistic. She is my light I tell ya... Here recently (over the past few months or so) I have begun reading. My lovely sister bugged me and bugged me and buuuuuuuuugged me to begin reading Donna Grant's books. Now prior to this, I had tried reading romance novels but none of them interested me. Boring, no plot lines (in the ones I was reading before) and basically all sex... not my forte'. BUT alas, I decided to humor my sister and read Highland Mist by Donna Grant and I LOVED IT!!! (Review will be posted separately for this book). This made me decide that maybe I needed to begin reading more!! So I did!! Since this revelation I have read 16 books! Which is a HUGE deal for me considering the last series I had read before this (willingly that is) was Babysitter's Club lol. I now own over 100 books and most of them I have yet to read (however, I am slowly making my way through the stack). I also recently won a contest by an awesome author named Melissa Wright and am now the very proud owner of a Kindle Fire HD 7"!!!! As soon as I read Melissa's book Bound by Prophecy, you will see a review for that here as well! In addition to reading, I also draw, cook, write(short stories and poems, nothing major), craft and scrapbook, photography is a passion for me, and I have a handmade jewelry and misc store on Facebook called Charmed by Cherry. Come on by and check out the jewelry, bookmarks, and message if you have any questions about custom orders!! I basically love to do anything with my hands! Including but not limited to gardening!! I will also be posting pictures of my garden as she develops!! Anywho, that is enough about me!! If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask in a comment!! I am pretty much an open book!

REVIEW: Shadow Highlander (Dark Sword #5) by Donna Grant

Shadow Highlander
(Dark Sword #5)
Publication Date: August 30, 2011
Available Here:

Blurb:

Sent on a dangerous mission into the shadowy world of the Druids, Galen must find a powerful ancient relic to defeat the enemies of Castle MacLeod. But what he discovers is far more powerful—and far more dangerous. A Druid lass whose beauty is as spellbinding as any magic…

Reaghan is the most enchanting woman Galen has even met—and the most enigmatic. She alone is immune to his mind-reading gifts. He alone makes her feel safe and secure. But Reaghan holds a secret power deep inside her that could destroy them both. And if Galen hopes to hold this captivating woman in his arms every night, he must defeat the darkness that draws closer around her every day….
This was another one that had me on edge a few times... With Galen and his edginess and Logan falling apart at the seams.... I was so worried many times in this book! I was however, very impressed at how Galen turned out though... Poor Braden... I was walking through a grocery store when his SHOCKING scene came into play and I gasped, STOPPED dead in my tracks and about screamed!! Shocked at Mairi... so totally didn't think she would be weak enough for something like that! :( I began this book rather slowly and the further I got into the book, the longer my reading strides were... I got to the point where they were back at MacLeod castle and couldn't put it down!!! I so can't wait to read Darkest Highlander!!!!!

I give this book 5 out of 5 shields!!

REVIEW: Untamed Highlander (Dark Sword #4) by Donna Grant

Untamed Highlander
(Dark Sword #4)
Publication Date: April 26, 2011

Available Here:

Blurb:
Druid-born and magic-blessed, Isla is one of the deadliest she-devils ever to serve the forces of darkness. As an immortal Highland warrior, it's up to Hayden Campbell to destroy her and her kind. But for Hayden, Isla is more than a sworn enemy. She is temptation...

Taking Isla captive, Hayden hopes to avenge his kinsmen who died by Druid magic. But when he looks into Isla's eyes, he sees the secrets of her past. When he touches her skin, he feels the passion in her soul. And soon Hayden comes to realize that this beautiful, beguiling woman is not his enemy at all--she is his destiny. And, even as the forces of darkness conspire against them, their love will conquer all...
Begun reading Untamed Highlander the same day as I finished Wicked Highlander... I could not stop myself! This book kept me on the edge of my seat from the very beginning. Hayden Campbell and Isla, the From Hayden saving Isla on Cairn Toul all the way to them falling in love at the end. Hayden, having his entire family killed by a drough and his vow to find and kill the drough that did it did not warm up to Isla very easily at all. And then to find out that even though they thought Dierdre was dead and now learn she's not! My heart hit my stomach!! I was so afraid that Hayden's pride was going to get the best of him. I was VERY surprised to learn that Isla WAS the drough that had killed Hayden's family. I cried, thinking that Hayden might change his mind about his feelings... However, Donna has not disappointed me at all here! She keeps on surprising me at every turn of the page swipe of my Kindle. I have already jumped into Shadow Highlander and am excitedly wanting to see where this series takes us to! I really am hoping that Dierdre gets killed soon.... but then I am hoping that her death doesn't make things worse for these men... Also, wondering if we are going to get to see Marcail's baby in these series' or are they going to fade out...? So many questions...

I give this book 5 shields!!

Self-Published
Genre: New Adult Fiction/Romance

Blurb: Katy Warren thought her life was perfect. Then her new husband, and also high school sweetheart, gets discovered while theater acting and gets swept away to Hollywood. Once there, things change. Liam throws himself into the Hollywood life and ignores Katy.

One night after a particularly crazy party, Katy can't take it anymore and leaves Liam and his celebrity behind, but doesn't get an official divorce.

Four years later, Liam goes to Georgia for filming and crosses paths with Katy again. But now she's just Kate and she has a boyfriend and she doesn't want anything to do with her marriage. Liam, has other plans.

First, I will say that this book was not like anything I have read thus far(as I am new to enjoying reading altogether..lol). Most of the books I read are steamy romances with erotic parts and detailed sex scenes or paranormal romances with shape-shifting hunks or vampires and this book had none of that! But I LOVED reading it!

The beginning of this book was fast paced and a lot happens all at once, but it is the beginning and the lingering non-divorced Kate that drew me in... She goes on to college and avoids Liam at all costs until he begins filming right where she is going to school!! Kate is a great strong woman and I loved reading about how Liam jumped over every hurdle that Kate threw at him! Watching Kate and Kris interact was sweet and heart-warming. I cried when Lucas left the story and found myself unable to stop reading! I read this book from cover to cover in 2 hours!! I recommend this book to anyone over 16 that has that hopeless romantic "happy ever after" mindset, because that was what I saw all through this story.... a hopeless romantic doing everything he could to win the love he once had back.

This book gets 5 shields!!

About the author:
Bethany Daniel is a 24 year young mother of 2 rambunctious little boys! Living in Texas with her hubby and children she enjoys every second of being an active player of "Catch-my-kid". When she's not writing, she enjoys reading, photography and chatting away with her mommy friends!
She has a second book due to be released August 12, 2013 named Disconnected which, while a standalone book, is related to reconnected as it is the story from Liam's point of view. You can find Bethany on Facebook, Twitter, and Goodreads(links below).

REVIEW: Wicked Highlander (Dark Sword #3) by Donna Grant

Wicked Highlander
Publication Date: November 2, 2010

Available Here:

Blurb:
The most reckless and fierce of the MacLeod brothers, Quinn is a prisoner of the god inside him, tormented by his inability to save his family from slaughter. His fury governs him, and day by day he loses himself to the darkness in his soul. But Quinn has a profound yearning for a woman's love....

Raised by Druids, the achingly beautiful Marcail is as spellbinding as the ancient magic that surges through her body. To Quinn, she is most desirable woman he has ever known. But to his enemy Deirdre, she is the perfect bait to lure Quinn into her trap. Once the two lovers are in her wicked grasp, their passion will be put to the ultimate test...
At many points throughout this book I was worried they would fail... also was amazed to see Quinn so different than he was in the first two books... Marcail is someone of great importance and it was so great. Their love story... All I could think of was how amazing this all was. So excited about how this all ended and am looking forward to the next book in this series!!!

I give this book 5 out of 5 shields!!!
